This month is interesting, as the energy is calmer than we will have for a lot of the rest of 2025, but it isn't calm by any means. This month Mars finally finishes it's retrograde motion, stationing direct on the 23rd at 17° Cancer.
Mars will actually spend a significant amount of time at 17° Cancer... over three weeks. To put that into context, when moving at regular speed, Mars moves through 15°-20° in three weeks. So this is a hard and long stay in one degree. If you have any planets or points around 17° of a cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), you will feel this station most intensely.
Mars hits it's station degree on February 12th, the same day as the Leo Full Moon- and I imagine the energy will be roaring pretty loudly around this lunation.
Mars won't leave 17° Cancer until March 9th. For those three weeks, Mars is sitting almost completely still (from our perspective on Earth) preparing to take off again. This can bring delays, frustration, or urges to prepare for movement in March.
Before that halt though, Mars will hit a couple aspects that it has already done once before and will do one more time in March. On February 3rd, Mars will square Chiron. On February 9th, Mars will trine Saturn. We will break these transits down more together in the MDMs each week.
By the end of the month, we are all in on Pisces energy. Mercury will move into Pisces on the 14th and the Sun will join on the 18th. The Pisces New Moon on the 27th hosts 5 planets and the North Node in Pisces. The urge to escape the harsh realities of the world can be high, so be aware of urges toward addictive behaviors and heightened sensitivity. Lean into compassion, grace, and empathy with boundaries to protect yourself as you prepare for the shift into the fiery land of Aries in March.
Speaking of Aries, Venus is there and at the end of the month it is stationing retrograde at 10°. Venus cycles bring us back to a similar retrograde space every 8 years. So this cycle rhymes with the Venus retrograde from 2017 and 2009.
Venus is the planet of values, finances, relationships, beauty, art, justice, etc.
All of February Venus is moving through its shadow - which is the part of the chart/sky that it will revisit during its retrograde. So this month, Venusian themes will give us an idea of what we will be uncovering deeper during March and April with the Venus retrograde cycle. And then Venus will station retrograde on March 1st.
Aries is not an easy place for Venus to do her regular work. But it sure as hell is a nice energy to have present when we need to fight for our rights, stand up against power-hungry dictators, and use our rage and our truth swords with precision and bravery... ya know, if we would need to do that for any reason.
We also have Jupiter stationing direct on the 4th at 11° Gemini 🎁, a Mercury cazimi on the 9th square Uranus 🤯😵💫, Mercury also squares Jupiter (2/20) then conjoins Saturn (2/25) 🦢⚔️.
The Full Moon of the month is February 12th in Leo.
The New Moon of the month is February 27th in Pisces.
